He named his band, his label (Roswell) and his personal publishing company. 'The way things were handled, and what was done to me, I do think that staying in that band would have made me feel like my soul was destroyed and I would have likely ended up dead,' he explained. Goldsmith revealed he was pushed into heavy drinking and drugs in a bid to cope with the pressure he was under. And confirming he wished he had never met Grohl, he said: 'That feeling might change if we actually sat down and talked. But that hasn't happened yet.' ![]() Goldsmith, who now plays with band Sunny Day Real Estate, joined the Foo Fighters in 1994. He was approached by Grohl while at a gig and was handed a piece of paper saying the singer and drummer wanted to meet him. Goldsmith recalled: 'I was contacted by Dave and he said he wanted to get the Foos going. 'When we went into it initially, he said it was to have fun and no crazy pressure. 'He didn't want to spend a load of time on the road. But that is not how it worked out. 'I did first off say, 'no, I don't think I am the right guy for the job.' 'But he came back and said that was why he wanted me to do it.' Foo Fighters started out as a one man project – Grohl wrote all the songs, and performed all the instruments. But it soon became apparent if he wanted to make it work he would need other people to assist. As well as approaching Goldsmith, Grohl also got his Sunny Day Real Estate band mate, bassist Nate Mendel, on board, who is still with the Foo Fighters. He played at their momentous gig at the Glastonbury Music Festival two weeks ago. Goldsmith said he worked for 13 hours a day for three weeks on The Colour and the Shape, but it was almost for nothing. Grohl re-recorded much of the album and Goldsmith was only credited on 'Doll' and 'Up In Arms' Goldsmith said everyone told him to join the band and they congratulated him on finally making it. However as soon as he got in the studio to work on the 1997 album, The Colour and the Shape, he realized something was not right. Saying he was doomed from the start, Goldsmith revealed: 'I worked for 13 hours a day for three weeks. 'I gave everything I could. I couldn't believe at the end of it everything was done and I had got through it. 'But I just knew something wasn't right.' Goldsmith soon discovered that all of his work had been re-recorded, and his efforts were obliterated in the most part from the album: 'Apparently Dave was going to re-record a few of the songs. 'I don't know if the producer told him to keep going, or what. 'But the next thing you know all of the work I had done was gone except for one or two of the tracks.' In fact, the only songs that remained with his drums intact on The Colour and the Shape were 'Doll', 'Up In Arms' (where he is only credited for the slow intro) and the verses of 'My Poor Brain' which he did not get a credit for. On the 10th anniversary edition of the album, Goldsmith can be heard on the title track, and also 'Down in the Park' but is not credited on either. Vray 4.02.04 crack windows 7. Goldsmith said of the experience that he felt like he had been creatively 'raped'. 'It was a way of describing how it felt – when you put that much of yourself into something, and then without you even knowing, it is completely destroyed from existence,' he said.
